JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Specialty Representative (SR) is to support the launch of a new molecule in the insomnia space – specifically calling on psychiatrists. Within their assigned territory the SR will be responsible for bringing about understanding of the role of the drug and its data by clearly articulating product attributes and benefits to specialists, and how this innovation changes patient outcomes versus currently available therapies. The SR will create partnerships with insomnia thought leaders, establishing, and connecting a strong network of specialists to understand barriers to optimal insomnia treatment and facilitate the network to develop solutions to remove barriers.

With a clear understanding of the specialists’ practices, the SR will develop and implement plans at multiple levels: Individual physician, organized medical team, and for groups of physicians who may share practice types, barriers or opportunities. 

The end result is not only to exceed forecast, but to exceed customer expectations adding value to the practices to optimize patient outcomes.

The SR doesn’t operate alone.  We are establishing a culture of performance and collaboration; It is expected that they build integrated cross functional plans (Marketing, Medical, Sales, and Access) to drive overall territory results.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Facilitate clinical dialogue that compels the customer to act on behalf of their patients and engage the entire account to understand any obstacles that exist to provide appropriate solutions to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Identify shared priorities and leverage knowledge and tactics within the full account to develop a strategic territory business plan that drives product demand by meeting the needs of key partners and ultimately their patients to drive superior results. 
  • Lead any required planning meetings with key partners to solve more sophisticated customer problems and work collaboratively across functions to ensure customer needs are met with urgency
  • Collaborate with Medical and Access to help drive HCP advocacy for patient access/reimbursement to treatment
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the psychiatric / insomnia field is essential. This includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, sleep clinics and other HCPs involved in the treatment of insomnia.
  • Creating a strong network of specialists that come together, develop innovative approaches to overcome common barriers and advance the accessibility of therapeutic treatment for insomnia patients. 
  • Develop and implement an integrated cross-functional annual territory business plan based on market insights and incorporate marketing, medical and Access brand plans to ensure alignment. Ensure continuous and timely updates to the plan in response to changing market dynamics.
  • Collaborate with Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to implement regional CME (Continuing Medical Education) programs.
  • Identify and promote potential future advocates, partnering with stakeholders to create a strategic development plan
  • Within the organization, being an advocate for insomnia patients and effectively communicating the priorities and solutions needed for the organization to invest in.   
  • Partner with local territory reps (Product Specialists) to ensure integrated plans across territories
  • Promote products within approved labeling in a comprehensive, fair, and ethical manner that is consistent with industry specific and corporate legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Understand how to leverage systems and omni-channel options to apply the full suite of Syneos capabilities to personalize and engage with customers in both face-to-face and virtual environments enabling excellent customer experience and customers’ confidence to prescribe medications for appropriate patients
  • Communicate territory activity and administrative duties in an accurate and timely manner as directed by management
  • Provide feedback to sales and commercial leadership, colleagues, marketing, and other internal departments about changing environment and results
  • Manage efforts within assigned promotional budget
  • Develop / implement /support programs – some of which are in evenings and weekends
  • Overnight travel as indicated by the needs of the business

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (please indicate if ‘preferred’)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Preferred degree in Science or Business.
  • Superior business acumen, effective management of resources and ability to achieve or surpass corporate goals and sales objectives. 
  • Strong analytical skills, 
  • Experience strategizing within cross-functional teams, utilizing differential resources to achieve business goals
  • Building, implementing, measuring outcomes of territory plans and results.
  • Strong digital marketing aptitude
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • CNS/Psychiatry experience is ideal but not mandatory 
  • Previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience with at least five years in specialty sales
  • Launch experience strongly preferred
  • Fluent in English & French (oral and written)
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks concurrently under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment
  • Comfortability with uncertainty and high expectations
