Responsibilities

As the Syneos Health Commercial Director, Business Development you will identify, grow and expand the Syneos Health business development opportunities by developing and leveraging relationships with key decision-makers within biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies.  You are competitive, proactive and passionate about business growth and business development.  You need the ability to think strategically about complex client organizations of all sizes and understand how to unlock growth opportunities in those accounts through strong prospecting skills coupled with a deep interest, expertise, and industry network. You will think about how we can connect Syneos unique set of integrated offerings across our Commercial Business to solve challenges for our clients. The ability to network and maximize the value of your network to grow business will be valuable. We are searching for a motivated contributor with a hunter mindset responsible for generating new business by opening doors for our subject matter experts and qualifying leads. In this role, you will provide vision and direction for identifying and qualifying leads on behalf of our Syneos Health Commercial Solutions.   You will have a list of assigned accounts as well as the latitude to prospect other companies where you have identified business opportunities.

This position can be remotely based near a major airport or located at one of our office locations in the Northeast (NYC, Central NJ, or Boston).  Travel required 50% of the time to meet with clients and visit Syneos Health offices across the US.

 

  • Collaborate with business leads and cross-functional commercial partners to achieve and maintain knowledge of current and future offerings, solutions, intellectual property etc. in order to compete and achieve success in this competitive out sourced market.
  • Maintain strong, productive relationships with Commercial Leadership to understand current business footprint and client map including revenues, nature of engagements, scope of offering, existing relationships, potential opportunities, etc.
  • Contribute to a working environment, which encourages and supports a positive mindset about the work as well as the client and staff   involved.  Encourage and demonstrate unity behind team and Commercial Business decision-making. 
  • Collaborate and create an environment, which encourages Teamwork, information sharing and openness to new ideas.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a science related field.
  • 8+ years’ related BD and leadership experience, plus extensive knowledge within the Commercial Business of Biopharmaceuticals or related industry.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have proven Sales experience.
  • Confident and persuasive communicator and collaborator.
  • The aptitude to build a sales pipeline individually
  • Must demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm, passion, natural competitiveness, and strong desire to succeed.
  • Understanding of therapeutic categories/disease states.
  • Understanding of how drugs are commercialized and the integrated components of a typical launch plan
  • Superior presentation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with developing and executing successful sales & prospecting strategies.
  • Must have a strategic mindset along with being a thought leader and a strategic partner with clients.
  • Commercial business knowledge within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Must possess excellent perception & problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly recognize opportunities.
  • The ability to work independently while communicating to Commercial leadership in real-time.
  • Must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills and be detail oriented.
  • Strong motivation toward Commercial top-line growth

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $133,560 to $160,290.  The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position.  Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.  In addition, this position includes eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.

Syneos Health has a voluntary COVID-19 vaccination policy.  We strongly encourage all employees to be fully vaccinated.  Additionally, certain local governments or Syneos Health customers may have vaccine requirements that apply to some of our employees.  These employees are required to submit proof of vaccination to Syneos Health and maintain compliance with these requirements.
