Responsibilities

The Director of Advocacy Relations will lead the organization’s advocacy strategy to support our client’s growth in new and existing areas and deepen the impact of the services that it delivers.

This position will interact with external partners, including but not limited to national and regional advocacy organizations, patient and professional organizations and advocacy consultants. In addition, this position will interact with all internal business units.

  • Spearhead our client’s strategic efforts with key national, regional and state organizations
  • Build and enhance relationships with key patient advocacy organizations, advocates and leaders across the Urea Cycle Disorder community, serving as the main point of contact
  • Develop, maintain, and execute program-specific and general advocacy engagement plans that align with and enable the company to achieve corporate goals
  • Provide effective leadership over the development and execution of the advocacy function
  • Develop and leverage high level relationships with external customers and stakeholders to achieve our client’s development and commercialization objectives, including stakeholder mapping, patient focused development, competitive intelligence, landscape assessment
  • Provide an advocacy plan of action for new product launches and participate on launch teams

Along with demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related scientific field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical field, developing initiatives with healthcare professionals and patient advocates
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred
  • Knowledge of current public policies or policy proposals, practices, trends and developments affecting our client’s businesses
  • Ability to develop strong networks with individuals, patients and provider groups who influence public policy and participate in industry coalitions
  • Understanding of national and state legislation and regulatory affairs (including Medicare and Medicaid/CMS/FDA) that influence commercial payer initiatives affecting access to pharmaceutical products
