Behavioral Insights and Strategy is part of the Communications business unit and sits within the strategy center of excellence. We are a group of fast thinkers who come together from diverse backgrounds to work collaboratively to surface deep, intuitive understandings of people and apply those effectively to our clients’ business.  
We are looking for an experienced applied behavioral scientist who will support the EVP, Behavioral Insights and Strategy in infusing behavioral science principles and methodology throughout the company’s various communication agencies (PR, Advertising, Medical Communications, Branding). The applied behavioral scientist will serve as resident expert to further the company’s application of behavioral science to meet the business needs of the clients we serve in the life sciences industry.


30% Insight Generation: 

  • Contribute deep understanding of decision making of health care providers and patients that can be applied to our client’s key business challenges.  
  • Analyze primary and secondary research from psychological and socio-cultural perspective to deliver deep insights that can be used to craft communication strategy.  
  • Translate strategic objectives into primary research plans using both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies that will drive behavioral insight development needed for pitches and inline client work. 
  • Lead the development of an internal behavioral research roadmap to gather proof points of our behavioral science approach. 
  • Collaborate with our Research lead to develop innovative tools to uncover drivers of decision making by leveraging appropriate methodologies and frameworks from behavioral science literature. 


30% Internal consulting 

  • Translate relevant areas of behavioral science into compelling content for client facing presentations, RFP submissions and pitches. 
  • Serve as subject matter expert in client meetings and new business pitches. 
  • Support agency creative and experience designers by providing actionable recommendations for pulling through behavioral science into communication deliverables. 



30% Curriculum and tools 

  • Conduct reviews of relevant academic literature and boil the complexity of the science into easy to understand frameworks for our non-scientist audiences. 
  • Design a curriculum of training modules, workshop exercises, case studies, and tools that agency strategists and communicators can use to deepen their understanding and reinforce their use of behavioral science. 



10% Thought leadership 

  • Work in close partnership with Content Strategy to curate customer behavior trends and develop compelling thought leadership content that advances behavioral science as a key differentiator for Syneos Health Communications.   
  • Evangelize our proprietary strategic process built on science of behavior change.  
  • Build industry recognition as a subject matter expert in applied behavioral science while representing Syneos Health Communications. 

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a client-facing role within a commercial setting, preferably in research strategy, innovation /creative consultancy or marketing communication agency 
  • 3+ years applying behavioral science principles to developing persuasive communications and/or customer engagement or digital solutions, preferably in life science and/or healthcare industries
  • Experience using a variety of qualitative, quantitative, and experimental methodologies 
  • Excel at surfacing insights into customer decision making and behavior change and using these to create compelling narratives.
  • Experience crafting dynamic presentations and facilitating workshops 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; aptitude for partnership with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Behavioral science or related degree. Will consider other degrees with appropriate experience and successful completion of academic coursework in areas such as consumer psychology, behavioral psychology, social psychology, behavioral economics, health psychology, etc. Advanced Degree in a behavioral or social science preferred.
